“A dance of devotion for my partner with a surprising cinematic twist”

Honouring the people I cherish feeds my heart and soul. When my partner turned 40, I wanted to celebrate him with adoring creativity and a riotous immersion of emotions. I secretly contacted his friends, enlisting them to perform a custom-choreographed flash-mob dance that we would film to show on his big day. On the day of the shoot, our flash-mob friends gathered on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. Nearby tourists looked on in awe as we broke into our epic performance before collapsing into fits of laughter. On my partner’s big day, he left for the races, unsuspecting of my plans to hijack his evening. Blindfolded into a limo, he emerged to find his dearest friends and family waiting at a private cinema screening of his flash mob surprise and ‘This is Your Life’ movie reel. Blown away by the waiting crowd, he couldn’t believe I’d pulled off this surprise without him suspecting a thing. As we watched the dance unfold, devouring popcorn and sipping champagne, I spied my usually stoic partner shed a few happy tears as he was overcome by the raw tenderness of his heartfelt celebration.
